Dear Preschool Parents,
The class began a new unit by exploring their own families and the responsibilities of people in families. Preschoolers drew small figures to represent the members of their families and put cut out figures together linked with hearts to represent their families and how they take care of each other. We will continue to investigate roles and responsibilities in families (and in the classroom) as we focus on the concept of function.
During this unit, we will also be exploring the concept of connection. In addition to making connections with other students and their families, preschoolers will build connections with other students at MIS. Next week 4th and 5th grade students will be visiting preschoolers to begin Reading Buddies.
The third concept we will explore will be change. With your help, preschoolers will be making a book about change next week. We are asking for your help. Each child needs five photos that tell the story of change in their family before they started preschool. Some ideas might be a photo of your family prior to the birth of your preschooler, an newborn photo, a toddler photo, a photo of the family on a trip or in a new house, the addition of a younger sibling, a photo to commemorate the addition or a death of a pet.
Thank you all that already sent your family photos. We look forward to seeing more next week!
